#14 MO Preparation





 Good Traits:
  • good isthmus width of 1mm
  • proximal clearance of at least 0.5mm at B, L, and from Gingival Margin to adjacent teeth.
  • Proximal box meets external surface at 90 degrees
  • Even pulpal depth at 1.7mm
  • 5-7 degrees convergent B & L walls 
  • Adjacent tooth contact is not intact 
Flaws:
  • Axiopulpal line angle is not rounded. 
  • Carvosurface margins and wall of preparation are rough and can be smoother
  • Overall preparation outline can be more conservative.

Good Trait

  • Outline can flow smoother
  • Proximal box width can be a little more conservative



















#13 DO Amalgam Restoration
Good Trait
  •  Restore major grooves, pits, and cuspal planes to normal anatomical form -> functional occlusal contact restore
  • No detectable excess/flash, voids or open margins
  • Optical contact with proper resistant.
  • Smooth surface 







Flaws:
  • Too high marginal ridge (D).
  • Irregular contour
  • Lack of secondary groove 
  • Distal marginal ridge is bulky
