#14 MO Preparation





 Good Traits:
  • good isthmus width of 1mm
  • proximal clearance of at least 0.5mm at B, L, and from Gingival Margin to adjacent teeth.
  • Proximal box meets external surface at 90 degrees
  • Even pulpal depth at 1.7mm
  • 5-7 degrees convergent B & L walls 
  • Adjacent tooth contact is not intact 
Flaws:
  • Axiopulpal line angle is not rounded. 
  • Carvosurface margins and wall of preparation are rough and can be smoother
  • Overall preparation outline can be more conservative.

#12 MOD (class II) Composite Restoration


Good Traits: 
  • Major grooves, pits, marginal ridges, cuspal planes of restoration are restored to meet anatomical & functional forms
  • Marginal ridges are even with adjacent's
  • No visible flash/ excess
  • Clinically acceptable contact (with floss verification)
  • Smooth surface, no voids.
Flaws:
  • Proximal contour (Distolingual) restoration needs better finish and smoothing. 
  • Overpolishing on mesial contacts creates light contact
  • Need a better polishing job on occlusal.
